In 1818 the Ferris family owned more than 1000 acres in Columbia Township. A deed recorded on October 30, 1835 lists an acre of land as a cemetery. The Mariemont Community Church was build beside the cemetery 100 years later. The cemetery is enclosed by a stone wall in a small tree shaded park adjoining the church.
